Server virtualization, put simply, is the technique of running multiple virtual machines, or VMs, on a single physical server. Each VM remains entirely insulated from the others, and functions and appears on the network as a physical machine. The VMs can run disparate operating systems, and applications. This decoupling accommodates moving servers from host to host or Cloud while maintaining an unbroken functional transition.
